dust cap replacement for 70's SVT cab??

Sign in to disble this ad
So, I just bought a 70's Ampeg 810 and love it. I need to replace a couple of the dust caps on it, though. I was looking them up online and noticed that you can get felt ones and paper ones in various sizes. What should I buy??? Thanks

Buy as close as you can to the original in both size and material.

If the speaker isnt vented on the rear of the magnet make sure you use the felt one or the speaker will have no venting.

Only if originally equipped with felt/vented caps.

With all due respect, they are definately not paper. They are cloth. I have 16 of the cts speakers down in my shop, a mix of 71,72 and 73. I went to look to verify.

They are cloth. You can see through them. They may be referred to as screen or zurrete

hmmm...wish i still had the original cones in mine, but i always thought they were paper. my recones have paper dustcaps on them. however, i will take your word since you actually have some with the original cones in front of you. empirical evidence wins over fuzzy memories
