If any of you haven't noticed already I'm a pretty big fan of EA stuff on both the electric and double bass sides!

In TB style why not have a dedicated thread to discuss all things EA.... |

Nice site improvement IMO. |

I can see how the iAmp Pro with a pair of 8 ohm NL210's would be a top notch system - very potent, scalable, and light weight. A vertical NL210 stack wouldn't have comb filter degradation and would also bring the upper drivers closer to ear level. From the other thread it says the tonal balance is very good. Is the bass response full and fat with a good chest thump with this rig?

Nice site improvement IMO. | ^I'm glad they kept a bunch of that stuff, they have some good info on Class D Amps and the others as well which is a cool reference tool for an EE dummy like myself... |

Many of us complained about the 'thin' low end of our Walter Woods, and associated that with class D power, when actually it seems it was due to the switching power supplies back then not quite being up to the task of cranking deep low end at high volumes (at least in the Walter).
EA and Epi used a hybrid design that used a class D power amp, but with a toroidal (traditional transformer type) power supply for that deep low end wump. While neither of these amps really did it for me tone-wise, they WUMPED in the low end. Now, with the wonderful SMPS available (and I assume improved class D power amps also), these hybrid designs are no longer necessary, and all the new EA and Epi amps use SMPS (switching power supplies). It was a unique solution to the 'I need the big wump but want it reasonably lightweight' back then (10 years ago or so).

2x NL210
2x VL208
2x VL108 (currently for sale)
Doubler
IAMP Pro
My first taste of EA gear was the IAMP 350, it wasn't quitest amp on the planet but it sounded great with my Bag End stack S15XD/S15D before I got my first NL210 which is in the picture.
Also owned a Wizzy 10 at one point but it wasn't my cup of tea.. |

Question: Has anybody put plastic/metal caps on the corners of their EA gear? The one corner of my iAMP500C is starting to really break up. I would like to protect it before it gets worse. |

I also have an i800, which I use with an Epi UL210 and Berg AE410. In theory I could run them both at once from the i800, as they are both 4ohms, and the i800 is happy driving 2ohms.
