early 90's Crate 10" speakers

Way back around '90/91, I was told by my local Ampeg dealer that "Crate was made on the same assembly line as Ampeg, and that 4x10 Crates had the same speakers as Ampeg cabinets". I had owned a few different Crate cabs back in the day, and was not impressed at all with their 15" or 18" boxes (or heads/amps), but stacking two Crate 4x10's was quite good in comparison.

So, does anybody know for sure?

They may have used Eminence OEM just like Ampeg but I doubt they used the same models.

Crate and Ampeg were owned by the same parent company for a while and likely shared some things in the interest of keep cost down BUT, Crates were cheaper for a reason. Things like quality of build materials, design and parts, including speaker are all included in that. If it is an eminence OEM driver and isn't still being used, chances are if you email eminence all the parts numbers off of it, they'll give you whatever info they've got.
