I have a chance to pick one of these up and I was wondering the value. the guy is asking 450 but 450 seems high since its just the head. I have seen them going for 450 with a matching cab. They look similar to the kustom tuck and roll cabs and heads from the 70s.

don't know what it's worth, but i certainly wouldn't pay $450.

that seems high, thats a 150 dollar amp

its going to need new caps and tubes to be worth anything and...then at that point, to you would be worth $350
if you actually bought it for cheap and blew 200 bucks to fix it up.

otherwise at 450 it should have a cabinet with working speakers.
and be in very good shape.

im sure its a fun amp but not worth 450 at all, better to find a old bassman100 and go threw the same process of adding new caps and tubes. even if a amp is working anything over 30 years old, would benefit highly from new caps.

and unless he has document proof that work has been done, whatever...160 bucks take it or leave it. it has 4 6L6 but i dont think those things are more than 60 watts.

I figured he was asking way too much. So I wonder if it can get nice and fuzzy sounding with the tubes that's the main reason I was interested in it. My latest music project requires bass fuzz but I can't get it without losing tone.

it's a Little high, but don't forget you're essentially getting a blackface dual showman for $450, because that's what that head Is, a dead rip of a bf showman. $450 for a 80/100watt all tube head? i think it's pretty reasonable. myself i'd see if he'd come down to $350/$400 and if he did i'd do a total restoration, it deserves one. the only thing that Really sucks is that the head cabinet is about 1 1/2" too short for tall bottle 6L6's, arrg! so you have to go with short bottles unless you mod the cab with a back perforated screen over the output tube area. i've seen it done before and it looks and works great. i had the silver sparkle Plush version of that same Earth head and it was a KILLER old school rig mated with a black Kustom 2-15 loaded with D140's. ridiculously great tone, and it looked stunning too

If it's been recapped and gone over, that's a fair price. It's a nice amp.
