I was using one for a little bit. When I first started using 3 amps, I used one of those Earth heads for my second slave amp. Had a really good tone, and a ton of EQ to mess around with.

First show with it, the thing wreaked of burning dust and electronics at the end of our set, but no fire or smoke.

Then a day before another show at practice, it caught fire a little bit. Looked over and saw smoke coming out of my other amps. It went from the Earth at the bottom to the two on top and through the vents in the bottom of 'em. Got it repaired, and sure enough about a week later it caught fire again.

At the time I read up on them, remember reading that they were somewhat known for having problems when they came out. I don't know if I just had a dud, or it was just never maintained.

I have the matching 2x15, that's only as deep as the head, with silver thick stripes of metal down the sides of the grill. Total Peavey ripoff. Real shallow cab, but it sounds awesome. Sounded a little muddy or something in the midrange though, so I put some insulation in it and it sounds way clearer now. Pretty sure the speakers are original. They've held up to low F# just fine.
