Ebay strikes again.

Well I thought I would share my ebay experience today. So today I watched two bids come to a close. One a GK 700rb II head and the other, a GK neo 4 10 cab. I really only needed the Neo cab because my speaker blew out on my old acoustic cab, but I couldn't help bid on the really cheap 700rb. Well anyway, The 700rb ended first. I won at $290 including shipping (Sweet deal). But it became a challenge on the cab. The shipping was $143.99 to start, so I knew even if the bids were cheap, all together it was expensive. I had 200. But then it suddenly spiked to 250. I bid 270. Some one else bid 280. I type in 288.99 in the box but as it is confirming my bid, I lose to the $280 bid. I then realize. Oh my god, I just bought another bass head for almost 300 dollars meanwhile I don't have a cab now to play it with. Stupidity is a terrible burden.
I hope you enjoyed my fiasco.

You realize you don't have to manually bid multiple times, right?

Yes i understand but i didn't want to enter a really high maximum bid and then suddenly someone bids up to that and i have to pay alot more than i wanted too. I only had about 410 to spend on the cab since i won the head.

So why don't you just enter as much as you're willing to spend from the beginning?

well i did, and it went higher than that haha. So i decided i would reconsider and enter more but that's when i lost. Because if you enter your real highest bid right away, It's easier for someone to go passed it. If you bid lower, than you can just wait till 10 seconds and rele put in your highest bid. Because I knew everyone else bidding could afford to shell out more cash than i could. So i tried playing it strategically with my low amount of cash. But i still lost.

That's why some sites have it such that if a bid was entered last minute, the auction get extended for 30 seconds. If they kept iterating like that, can you imagine how much that would've raised the final price by?

That's why I use Gixen to do the bidding for me. You plug in the auction and dollar amount, set it and forget it. That way you don't get roped into watching auctions and over paying in the heat of battle, which is why a lot of auctions sell for wayyyyy too much money. Also, you can "group" auctions so you can be bidding on 6 auctions but the remainder will auto-cancel if you win one. It's great stuff.

Yep- I've "Esniped" everytime I've bid on anything over $100 for several years, and I usually win unless it's something out of my price range in the first place!

i watched that auction since the day it opened, but it slipped away in the last few seconds. my fault, but i wasn't willing to go over $400 total, and shipping was over $150 for me.

At least you don't have a half dozen or so coliseum sized bass amps, and only one cab worthy of any one of them....
