Anyone tried this cab? Are they still made in Sweden? Feedback on other EBS cabs would also be helpfull. Thinking of pairing it with a trace elliot v-type 600 head.

Cheers.

Classic line was (AFAIK) never made in Sweden, but in China. If you look closer, you will find "certificate of origin" each product in their home page.

I tried it briefly in a MI shop and it sounds quite different from the ProLine 410. ProLine 410 has very little real bottom (as it is loaded with Eminence Gamma 10s) but plenty of aggresive mids.
The Classic 410 sounds warmer and smoother with more real lows going on. A much better cab for fingerstyle rock and blues etc IMO. I doubt it will be able to keep up with the ProLine 410 in terms of SPL and "punch" (whatever that is...).

ProLine cabinets are not really stellar in terms of construction. Leaking joints, no bracing, too tittle glue, air whistling through connection plates etc. Handles, corners and
grille is well chosen, though.

Classic line might actually be superior in terms of woodwork execution but lacks in terms of "stackability" and driver protection.

Thank you so much for the feedback, rely a big help when I can't demo them.

I was suspecting that they were made in china, the waranty on all their other cabs is 5 years.

Proline cabs are over my budget, but I found a used EBS classic 4x10 for 490€. A new GK EBM 4x10 is only 444€.

Regarding the the cabs tone, I'm not sure which on would handle low frequencies better and not "fart out" like some of the ashdown mag cabs have been accused of. Playing tuned with a low c,g,c,f, I need clarity but still dont want it too sterile. Thinking of adding another head someday and splitting the signals into a clean/dirty rig, ala Geddy Lee/Justin Chancellor.

Just don't know which 4x10 would be best for that type of tone, or if there is one under 600€?

What about warwicks 4x10 cabs?

Just for clarification:
The EBS ProLine cabs are built in Sweden!

I have used some new-ish Warwick 410 (powered by some Warwick ProFet head) for band rehearsal once or twice and it sounded nothing like the EBS ProLine 410.
Actually it was more close to the Classic one.
Rather full and "fat" tone. Not super deep or loud bass, but warm upper bass that blends nicely with the rest of the band.
Personally I prefer more deep sounding rigs, but this one did fit like a glove for Precison bass and standard rock music.

Another owner of the Classic 4x10 reporting!

Yes indeed, it is a vintage sounding cab. Perfect combination with a Precision and VT Bass.

And it's not too heavy either.

However, I'm selling mine because I want to go lighter and smaller.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Cheers,

What kind of head are you using with the cab? So you are happy with the tone but want a smaller/lighter rig? How does it compare to other cabs you have owned tried? What kind of music do you play?

How much are you asking?

I use a shuttle 3.0 with it. And, in combination with the VT Bass pedal, am very happy with the sound.

I play rock / indie-covers.

Before this cab I used a SWR Goliath. Compared to this Goliath the EBS is much more vintage & less hifi.
If the cab was smaller and lighter I'd keep it.

I really not prefer to ship this cab. I would also cost a fortune.

In post #6 of the linked thread form the Rocket Music forum, Greg (the owner, username RocketMusic) has a soundclip posted of an EBS head with that cab. I liked it

So Rocket Music's Greg tells us that the EBS Classic is a modern cab with a vintage appearance.

He's a guy with much more experience and knowledge then me.
So I guess he's right.

I never played another 4x10. The Goliath was a 2x10.

I would personally not call it "modern" sounding. (As in extended lows, scooped mids and glassy highs.) It does not sound like for instance Deltalite 2510 II or Peavey TVX 410, which to me is a "modern" sounding speakers.
However, it sure plays louder and cleaner than most "vintage" stuff...

Old thread but I thought I'd pipe in. For about 15-20 gigs last year, I used a classic line 410 with a Traynor, 125watt all tube, Yba3 from 1973. and I loved the tone. It has been my favourite rig for pub gigs so far. I generally use an Angry Angus Custom PJ with Lollar pickups (al passive) with a few pedals, Sadowsky Preamp, HBE Hematoma, and an OC2.

But I'd often plug straight into this rig. On Similar gigs I've used a Puma500 combo from Tecamp, a Glockenklang HeartRock into a Mesa 210, or the EBS, but the all tube head into the Classicline 410 really cut the mustard, and was easy to schlep.

I sold the 410 to fund another purchase (I forget which one now, probably the tecamp, and or a vintage Mustang) but I'll probably replace it soon.

My 2 cents
