EBS HD350 and Microbass

Sign in to disble this ad
I am a long time EBS user of the HD350. The last year I have been experimenting with GK and the VT Bass but in the gospel band setting, the EBS sound just fits with my basses and my approach. I am taking the whole HD350 to church only to use the preamp section. I would like to downsize to the Microbass assuming I can get the same tones.

The HD350 Drive at 75% with a mid boost around 800Hz and a smidge of bass boost just makes my 61 Jazz with TI flats sing. At this setting the overdrive to my ears is not a distortion but is a subtle overdrive that warms up the tone and adds a bit of fur to the sound. I have read a lot of revews on the Microbass and people seem to really like the overdrive, but it sounds like the overdrive they describe is way into the distortion area. Has anyone played both the HD350 and the Microbass. Can you get the same tones. I am guessing that the Drive knob on the Microbass has more distortion or gain to it than the HD350 Drive knob. Althought the spec sheets look remarkedly similar? Thanks.
