Eden 210XLT speaker replacement suggestions & ohm question

Sign in to disble this ad
I want to look into replacing my dry and slightly cracked speakers in my D210XLT. I'm looking for suggestions on speakers but I also need an answer on something. I bought this used cab labeled as an 8 ohm cab but as I pull out the two 10's inside they are both 4ohm EC1060XL speakers wired in parallel. acording to this image :

I should have a 2 ohm load. Does Eden's crossover do something to alter the load or did someone replace my speakers at some point? FYI - I do notice that this cab is twice as loud as my 210XST , but I assumed that this was an speaker sensitivity difference? can anyone confirm that I have what I should before I look for new speakers? - and your suggestions please, dont mind spending up to almost 200 a speaker - thinking maybe some Faitals or something that will really sound great.

Someone either replaced them or rewired them. The difference between 2 ohms and 8 ohms is 6dB, not twice as loud, but substantial. As for replacement drivers, read the FAQ. Doing so successfully requires a high level of knowledge on the subject, and it's usually a case of if you have to ask how to do it you shouldn't be considering it.
