Eden 410XLT replacement speaker options

Sign in to disble this ad
So I bought this cab new and the speakers lasted about 2 weeks before they ripped off the surround. Needless to say I was pissed but Eden did not honor any sort of warrenty nor did musicians friend. What I wound up doing was pulling the woofers from an old ampeg 410hlf and putting them in the cab. They lasted me a few good years but are now toast, they were about 12 years old. Now I am hoping to replace the woofers again but I would like a speaker with better bass response that will last and take a good beating every night if needed for months on end. The cab it self is great and I beleive tuned to 40hz. Any ideas?

Perhaps the original drivers re-coned might offer the best result. Or if you binned them jamming jersey have four second hand drivers in stock.

without knowing the cab dimensions if you get some freeware cabinet design software you might find some fs measurements on some alternative drivers and start reverse engineering your cabs design.
Surprised the ampeg drivers lasted in the Eden cab when the edens didn't perhaps you really need another 4 X 10 to ease the load as you are obviously close to X-lim in use of a very loud 4 X 10.
has your EQ expectations eased a bit and thats the reason for the longevity of the Ampeg/Eminence driver.
No speakers sound really that good when you exceed X-Max.

Those Eden 10's are prone to failure due to there limited Xmax (cone travel).
I have read about some good alternatives while surfing but don't remember what they were.
Good luck.

You boosting a lot of bass? Scooping mids? Looking to shake stuff? You should maybe be using 2 cabs.

If the hlf speakers lasted you a few years, something along those lines would probably suit you. It wouldn't hurt to take measurements to see where your port tuning is but I'm done telling people they need to presicely reverse engineer things when looking for replacements for typical 210's and 410's. Most are of similair size and none are designed with sound as the only goal.

You want big lows, mid shy, shake stuff sound like the 410hlf has? Put eminence bp102's in there. They'll give you that and take a good beating while doing it from whatever big power amp you have. You want a little better mid representation, higher spl but still a generally deep, warmer sound, use emi. Basslite s2010's. Series/Parallel wiring in either case. Bp102's come in 4ohm if you must have a 4ohm cab but don't think you're gaining anything by "getting all the power out of your amp". The basslites higher sensitivity will more than make up for that.
