Eden D112XLT Speaker

The mid tendecies of this cabinet are well documented. Does anyone have experience with a replacement speaker that offers greater low end and possibly handles more power? I'd rather replace the speaker than get another cabinet, so my interest is not in cabinet replacement suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I have one. I'm not sure a different speaker would provide that much more low end(?). The box is not as deep as some other 12s.

+1. The box is very small since the shelf port goes all the way to the back and about halfway up the back of the cabinet. The interior is only partially lined with damping material and I found that the sound was barely but noticeably improved by adding foam damping wherever I could without blocking the ports. Another tiny improvement came from blocking the middle of the three ports with a carpet-covered insert cut to fit tightly and tapped into place with a rubber mallet. This deepened the port tuning. These changed are reversible and to my ear netted about a 5% "improvement" through reduced midrange reflections and slightly more lows.

It's not the speaker, it's the box it's in. Replacing the speaker will gain nothing. If you want more deep low end, you need a bigger box.

Suddenly starting to look like the fix is a 210XST.

That would probably sound great if you paired it with the 112xlt. I had an Aguilar GS112-NT and Eden 112xlt and was trying to decide which one I liked better. I finally decided I like the Aguilar better, so I bought a GS112 to pair with the GS112-NT. I was going to sell the Eden until I tried running all three 12s with the Eden on top - boy what a difference. The Eden seems to add the snap, mids, and character that the Aguilars lack. So now I've got a great 3x12 rig.
My point is I think you might like the 210+112 combo! The 112xlt by itself....ehhh.

I put it on top of my 210xlt (ShuttleMax 12) and there was significant magic. Played it loud and listened from about 20 ft. Problem is the XLT is 8ohms and its an XLT. It was rumored the 112XLT was a great complimentary cab, and I believe the rumors are truth.
The quest is on...4 ohm 210XST.

I would imagine the snarl factor would be pretty high with the 210XLT/112XLT combo!
I like the XST a little better than the XLT, but have only played them in store. Yeah, go with the XST. To my ears it was not only deeper than the XLT, but just richer sounding overall.

I have three D112XLT's. I replaced the standard ceramic drivers with Kappalite 3012HO's. Benefits:

1. Increased power handling (from 250w to 400w).
2. Saved about four pounds per cabinet.
3. Biggest plus: At minimum, overall character is retained (if not improved - seems more responsive) while the increased low end is pleasantly noticeable.

I'm very happy with the sound. It's as if the 3012HO's were the drivers the D112XLT's should have shipped with.

Another note re: 3012HO's in D112XLT's:

Because the HO's have more bass response than the Eden drivers, I plugged all unused 1/4 inch inputs (I use foam ear plugs) to prevent a sort of farty whistling when playing loud low notes. Works great!
