I'm looking at these Eden cabs. It looks to me that the better of the two is the SXT cab. Has lower frequency response, higher power handling, lighter weight.
Specs: XST 30-14K, 500 Watts, 59 Lbs
XLT 48-14K, 350 Watts, 68 lbs
It seems that the $50.00 price difference (Musicians Friend)
makes the XST the winner. Am I missing something, asking the right questions?
TIA,

I think in reality, you have to try them both out to see which one sounds best to your ears and not rely too much on the claimed frequency response, etc.

The XST is more flat, while the XLT has the low mid bump that makes them work really well in some band mixes. "Better" is highly subjective because the specs don't tell you squat about what the box sounds like. So, the XST goes lower. How flat is it across the whole rated spectrum? What's the rated efficiency? That's why the only specs I pay attention to any more are the weight and the dimensions.
The rest is my ears.

The XST's are flatter and thus allow you to taylor your sound a little easier because you're not working around the cabs built-in lower mid bump. Both are nice! One not get one of each? ;o) |

It is also somewhat louder with the same power input. In comparison, the XST is more even sounding (S reportedly stands for 'smooth'), takes more power without creasing the drivers, and will handle the low B on a 5-string much better.

An xlt cab competes better with distorted guitars. When I use my xst stack I end up boosting the mids a bit to cut thru - the beauty is I can boost mids in the freq range that suits the room.
Don't for a moment think that because the range of the xlt cabs isn't as low that it can't handle a low B - The low B on all my basses thru an xlt cab is tight and focused. My 610xlt supposedly has less range again than the 210xlt but I can tell you there is no shortage of lows from the B strings on my basses.
I will say though that a 210xlt is A LOT heavier than the xst model and a crap load harder to move...

| | | | I had one of each for a few years and always ran them together with the XLT cab on top of the XST. As noted the XLT has a mid bump and is a really aggressive and snarly cab while the XST cab is very smooth and deep. To tell you the truth, I didn't really enjoy either one by itself but put them together and whoa, what a sound! They balance each other out very well and sound huge, deep growly and full together.
I also had a 410XLT that I was able to compare side by side to the XLT/XST stack. The stack was deeper, louder and could put out a lot more deep bass then the 410. The two cabs were a lot easier to move then the 100 pound 410 and they fit well in my small car.
