Hi guys,
Always been a fan of Eden amps/cabs. Placed an order for a WT-550 and D210XST (4ohm) in October, got the head shortly after, but the cab is still MIA, with expected date of 03-18-2011
From what I gather from Eden forums, they're not producing because they're missing grills (who knew that took 5+ months!) and I'm giving up on waiting as at this pace, and given my order was pushed back 9+ times so far, I have lost any confidence in the company.
That said, what's a good 2x10" cab that will get me the same kind of tone / power as the XST? I play mostly jazz/funk and some pop music with a cover band. Play mostly 6-strings, slap and fingering.
Always been a great fan of Alain Caron who went from Eden to Roland and now Markbass. Don't know much about the company, is it a decent alternative? |

Best of luck,
Vince

how could that POSSIBLY be balanced...?
1 giant port in the 1x10, same mammoth hole in the 1x12, and TWO in the 1x15"
Just by looking at them I've got a feeling that they're going to sound like crap...bass players intuition...and judging from the sound on some of their videos...

If you've been playing Eden for a long time you owe it to yourself to try out new things. Berg, Aguilar, Epifani, Markbass, GK, Genz, Hartke, LDS...and on and on. Powerful, light, tight, thick and very affordable compared to yesteryear.
If you're still stuck on Eden, buy used. The older, heavier stuff is usually less expensive on CL because of the newer light stuff.
Have fun. |

| | | | Eden gear was pretty amazing stuff over the past 20 years but the company is not what it once was and there is so much new and exciting gear out there that you would be doing yourself a disservice to not try some other offerings.

Very responsive and the speakers held up great with the low B. The separate tweeter control gave me a lot of flexibility and overall I was very happy.
I recently moved to playing more rock and folk and I was happy with the lack of tone I was getting from the little Mark Tube 800 so I ended up trading it here and going to Aguilar gear.
I just got back from the NAMM show and I will share that just about every company was sporting Aguilar gear. JD from Warrior had some BagEnd gear and a few others had EBS, but I think that that speaks volumes.
Well there you have my two cents....
Cheers! |

Haven't really tried the others you've mentioned. At least I still have my D410XLT, don't really need anything else.

When I was starting out in the mid/late 90's Eden was THE gear to have. Maybe I'm nostalgic, but I still love Eden gear. I particularly love my Eden Nemesis NA320. I actually like the Nemesis gear more than the 'real' Eden stuff in most cases. That said, I have a 2-year-old WTX500 that I like a lot. I've pushed that amp hard and it rocks. Newer Eden stuff gets a bad rap, but mine is solid thus far. It also sounds great for what I'm looking for tonally. Once you get into professional-level gear the differences between amps/cabs/heads gets less noticeable overall, at least IMO. It becomes a numbers ($$) game after a while. So, if older or 'out of fashion' gear works for you in terms of tone and power, stick with it. The issue of weight is a subjective thing. Either you deal with heavy gear or you don't. |

Having owned and played GK, Hartke and Eden extensively, I disagree with this statement. Eden costs more than GK and Hartke but is hardly better (if at all). |

GK and Hartke have some new offerings that are highly rated by some. Personally I've gone in another direction. The OP may or may not like them. I'm glad your happy. Really.
I can also wholeheartedly recommend Euphonic Audio. Excellent sound and customer service. Perhaps not as colored as Eden. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
