Hey all;
I did a search when I was considering this cab and there was scant few hits so I thought I'd put something out there so the next guys has at least a hands on review:
First of all, if you recall from earlier threads, I recently got a Rob Allen mouse, my dream BG for Jazz standard playing. The cabs I have for that sitch were a Schroeder mini 12+L and an EA Wizzy 10, neither of which were loving the Mouse. The Wizzy came close but was wanting more bottom end so I was seriously considering a Wizzy 12.
On a whim, I was on Amazon a couple of months ago and for grins and giggles, searched for bass cabs and found that they are selling Eden (in addition to Hartke, etc. which I would expect) and they had the EX-112 for $249. The Wizzy 12 was gonna come in at around $550, sooo, half price. This is when I did my research and found almost nothing. A couple of nibbles when they were first announced but then nothing.
On or around Black Friday, Amazon dropped the price first to $225 then to $186. I had a $200 credit from a gift certificate from my birthday, so essentially this made it free to me (with Amazon's free shipping - I was not in a hurry) so I figured it was worth it to try it out.
I've had it less than a week and so far have only practice room playing at low volumes to judge by but at least its something: First of all, I find the tone very pleasing. Very non-colored and organic. Not as much bottom end as I was hoping but definitely better than my Wizzy 10. In comparing it to the EA, the designs look almost identical to the point I wonder if the Eden is an EA knock-off. It is Chinese made and in fact the cab corners say "Nemesis" on them even though nowhere on Eden's site do they call this a Nemesis cab. I'm guessing since the Nemesis cabs are probably made in the same place, some efficiency genius figured it would save them a tone of money just to use the same corners they already had. Again, this is a $200 cab so I expect that it would be import.
So far, no quality issues. It seems well built and I haven't found any buzzes yet staying at break in volume. It is a little on the heavy side (for me) at 30 lbs. (the Wizzy 10 is 16) Another little nag is there is only one 1/4 phone input jack. Everything else I own is speakon. Fortunately for me, I did have a speakon to 1/4 phone chord in my inventory that I must have gotten free gift with purchase with a head somewhere.
Like the title discloses, I'm still in the honeymoon on this one. It thrilled me that I could get an organic cab for so little money so that is definitely contributing the the happy feelings. Also interesting that a company like Eden would even play in this category of cabs. I work in Marketing and they are way outside the "Branding" on this line but in my case it was to my advantage.
I did notice that they sold the two they had in inventory and are currently out of stock. Sorry, I was waiting until I got it to post in the "Hot Deals" section.
