EDEN service sucks !!!

Sign in to disble this ad
Blew one speaker in my D210XLT 8 ohm cabinet.

Not in stock and on top of that the "service guy was going to order a me a 8 Ohm woofer " He had no idea about Ohms calculation.

Any one can recone a Eden 10" speaker ?

Any replacement suggestion for both woofers?

Neo?

Thanks

Sounds like a problem with the local service guy, not Eden.

Reconing resorces thread is located here
Speaker Reconing and Repair Resources?
from the FAQ's.

Without a location in your profile it's hard for people to make recommendations for you on local repair facilities.

The main tech emailed back to apologize," sorry you got the new guy " .

After an afternoon of research I ordered 2 KAPPA eminence ($175 shipped J&R ).

When I opened my Eden box and saw the rip on one speaker and the criss on the

Other one I could not spend $300 + shipping for the same speakers .

I was thinking of going lite(neo) but I'm running a lot of power and a lot's of frequencies

range

AMP: GB shuttle 12 , main bass 7 BD Conklin.

I run also a 15 SWR workman speaker cabinet on the first stage of the amp (GB 12)

I'm very curious how the EDEN box is going to handle those 2 Kappa rated at 500 W each.

I'll post my impression here when I use it on my gig .

Meanwhile I still have my great Phil Jones Bass cabinet with 12 X 5" to pump up the bass

One of if not the best cabinet i own in my 35 years carrier , just a bit bulky to fit on my

backseat

Got the 2 Kappa Eminence in the Eden Box.
At first the speakers are 8 ohm each ,so the box is now 4 Ohm.
When i plugged my Gen Benz Shuttle 12 .and My Conklin 7 ,I forgot to switch to input attenuation and i started smelling something burning inside the speaker box.
After a minute all was well and the tweeter (8 ohms is still working)
I had no idea what was burning
I definitely feel more power from the box , a lot more ,I have to dial a different EQ on my amp as the box tuning is totally different .
One caveat the speakers are 18 lbs each .. ouch .....

If the Eden box has a proper crossover then the low pass section is now completely wrong as it was designed for an 8Ω load. That could be your burning problem. If the tweeter is fed with a high pass only you would be OK.

Sorry to tell you, but the Eminence Kappa 10's are poorly suited for bass guitar enclosures. They are designed for mid-bass in a PA enclosure.

Their specs indicate that they only have a frequency range of 102 to 2,000 hertz, which isn't very low at all. They also don't have very good excursion specs, which mean they will fart out pretty early.

You'd have been much better off getting Eminence S2010's which are better suited for your cab in every regard: Lighter, cheaper cost, go lower, louder, and don't fart out as early.

Thanks Eric ,I was in a rush when i bought them ,i must have read the specs for the 12".
I was running an SWR 15 on the bottom so i did not miss the Sub Bass but using the cabinet by itself is going to be a problem . I will look for the S2010 's

Very poor choice of speaker for your bass cabinet. Aside from not knowing the compatability of the tuning of the cabinet for the driver, the driver itself is more of a mid-bass as Eric mentioned.

Now your box is 4 ohms, so don't run any more than that box on one channel of your Shuttle. That's the minimum load per channel.

Those drivers will not handle 500 watts each at bass frequencies (for very long) and with no thought towards tuning, they may handle as little as 200 watts each at low frequencies.

IMO, the original drivers were by far the better choice. I would also explore why and how they got damaged in the first place. Tearing the cones and creasing the paper is a sure sign of massive mechanical overpowering. Did you buy them this way used by chance?

the Eden was bought used online . It could have been already damaged , maybe it was a little light on one side of my shuttle 12 ,or maybe got damage on the shuttle6 running 4 ohms with the SWR 15"
My 7 string bass is very demanding on the speakers when I play a solo with a pick and effects full blast

I have no problem going back to the factory woofers ,they just were out of stock when i needed them and the kappa were only $150 for both ,so it was worth the try and they worked so far .No the greatest but they did not died on me

I guess I'll take the PJB 12X5" back out to my gigs till I sort it out .

Someone's asking for more volume than a 2x10 can provide. The answer is more speakers, getting less wattage each.

The Eden 2x10 cabs seem to be the first to blow speakers or crease them from what I have seen.
