Eden VT300 advise

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok, so I have the opportunity to purchase an Eden vt300 from my local pawn shop for a discounted price of $700 after tax. I've spent some time with it already, and I love the sound, although I havent heard it in a mix. The issue is, there is some static/crackling and drop in volume after 5-10 minutes of use. Is this a sign that it needs new tubes? Could it be something worse/more expenseve? Just dont want to buy something that needs hundreds put into ot right away, and dont want to pay $80 for an estimate to fin out I need toreturn the thing. Any advise would be great. I'm playing an active warwick std 5 string through a few pedals. Also, any point in using a sansamp bddi with this?

Thanks!

I've been checking out that amp a well. Really great price on a nice sounding amp. If I had the cash I would have picked it up months ago.

This is the risk you take when you buy from a pawn shop, or similar establishment, no known history. The static and drop in volume could be any number of issues, from a bad preamp tube to a failing power supply. You just need to determine if you're willing to take the chance, at that price. Personally, I wouldn't. There's a lot of great amps out there in that price range.
