Eden WT-300 Loud Enough For Gigs?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey everyone I came a across a good deal on a used Eden WT-300 and my question is will it be loud enough and cut through the mix for gigs?

I absolutely adore the tone this thing puts out, but I want to make sure it will get the job done before I spend my money on it. Im currently playing in a rock cover band around the southeast mostly small/medium to large sized bars and clubs so what do you think?

I've got the 600 watt version which is DEFINITELY loud enough. I will also say it's on the loud end of the spectrum as far as 600 watt solid state amps are concerned. So, depending on your genre and style, you might be in luck. Another important factor is what kind of cab(s) you're using?

I think the WT300 may be able to carry medium sized rooms with an efficient 4 ohm 2x12 or 4x10. But it would probably fall short with any 8 ohm cabinet or a 4 ohm 1X12 or 2X10. It would not be loud enough for a large club.

I used to gig a lot with the WT300 and a 4 ohm D410XLT. It did fairly well but I felt like I didn't have a lot of headroom with how hard I was pushing the amp. I usually had both the gain and master at about 12 o'clock.

Yeah you'd definitely run out of headroom with that setup.

The cab that comes with it is a hartke transporter 4x10 cab which i believe is 8 ohms if i was to get another cab at 8 ohms which would bring it down to 4 ohms would that do well?

what would you recomend i pair the hartke with?

the reason im going for this set up is ill get a head thats already rackmounted and a cab for a really good price plus i only have $600 to spend on my first bass rig

My band also has PA support at all of our gigs and I was planning to run the WT-300 into the mixing board so would that get me by for a few gigs till i can afford a second cab?

I recommend getting it no matter what because the tone is great from that head. Now keep in mind with just 1 410 cab at 8 ohms your going to run out of head room and probably only get around 220 watts out of that head but two cabs would be cool. Another alternative is that the head phone out of that doubles as a line out so if you get a power amp down the road you can slave it to the power amp and it'll be a monster!

I used a WT400 for years and it was plenty loud into 4 ohms. If you take a line out into the board and the soundman controls foh volume you'll be fine. As a stage monitor the WT300 should be plenty loud unless your stage volume is ridiculous. I played many large rooms - auditorium size - using the WT400 and an 8 ohm D210XLT. The foh guy often would take me out of the mains and tell me to turn down on stage! If you run the WT300 into 4 ohms you should be in good shape.

My WT300 (FT on the classifieds just FYI) is plenty loud with a guitarist and drummer. That said I'm using a Diesel 2x15 with it. Plenty of bump.

Small rooms, yes. Anything else, no.

If you got another matching hartke 4x10, you should be okay. You're best outcome with an additional cab will always come from an identical one if you're trying to get max volume. With just one 8ohm cab though, I believe that head only does 175watts, which probably wouldn't suffice.

I didn't have the same experience with my WT400, I always had to push it past where it sounded good. Sold it and bought a MarkBass LMIII and have no problems.

I used to use a WT-300 with a 410HLN (4ohms) and it would handle a reasonably loud stage. The DI is excellent on them, with FOH support you should be fine.

That's why I upgraded to a WT550 and added an 8 ohm 210XLT. BIG improvement.

Nice rig. A portable 6x10. I'm probably picking a WT550 up this week. I have owned several Eden heads (all pre US Music, WT400, WT550, WT600). They were all great.

That would definitely be a great rig for any situation. Powerful and flexible!

I actually played a park gig and it seemed to come out pretty well with the WT300.

Love the amp, but it's not the loudest. A couple of things I've experienced
1. The compressor is on all the time (hampers volume/tone) when it gets loud
2. The fan will stay on almost constantly when pushed hard. I've never had one shut down
3. You really need to push a 4 ohm load to have enough volume for most gigs.

I've owned three of these and love the sound of the amps. The reasons above are why I don't have one now.

I've played outdoors at a small festival gig with my WT-300 and D-410XLT, and found it somewhat lacking in volume. The WT-300 defines the Eden tone, and it's one amp I'll never sell. I've had it since 1996, and it's a tone monster, but in this age of 4-pound, 900-watt amps, it's going to see limited use.
