Eden WT300 cabinet advice needed

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been doing a lot of googling and searching here but I'm just not wrapping my head around what's going to work for me.

I've got a WT300 just sitting around at the moment. I've had it for 15 years and I used to run it with an Eden D410XLT, but I upgraded to a WT550 a couple years back. I was given the impression the WT300 would underpower the cabinet, and the WT550 is a better match. It's definitely more powerful now.

Anyway, the WT550/D410XLT tends to be a bit of overkill for some small/medium club settings. I'd like to make a smaller rig with the WT300. I'm thinking a 210 or 212 but wouldn't be opposed to a 115.

Since the Eden runs 300W @ 4 ohms I've been looking at 4 ohm cabinets. It seems the Eden D210XLT or D212XLT would be the perfect choice, except they seem to be very scarce. Several of the online vendors that used to carry them do not anymore.

I've looked at the Genz Benz stuff, but they are rated 600W @ 4 ohms, which gives me concerns about underpowering.

I'd love to hear feedback from WT300 owners or those with knowledge of the amp.

Underpowering is a myth. Seriously. It does not exist. Plug your WT300 into any cab you like. Doesn't mean they'll all sound great, that's subjective, but please read the amps forums, especially the faq' stickies at the top, and abandon the myth. Btw, my favorite rig atm is a 300 watt Mesa Walkabout through a 600 watt GB Uber 212. Massive sound.

+1 to the underpowering myth. The 212xlt is a slamming cabinet, but my favorite out of the eden bunch is the 210xst. I would check them out as well.

OK thanks guy. I read a pretty contentious thread over at the Eden forums and it seemed like Eden itself came out behind the notion of matching the amp wattage against the cabinet's handling when possible.

I will look at the 210XST for sure.

Can't go wrong the 210xlt. One of my favorite cabs. I'm using an aguilar s210 (4ohm) with mine and it's the perfect match!
