this poll is too narrow for me.... I like very much the design of eden world tour amps, but the 400 seems too close to being under powered for all potential applications, but the 550 is better and the 800 is awesome especially if you can run 2 ohms in a pinch. so I'm pro eden, but not pro 400 for a wide paint brush stroke....

I had a WT-400 about 10 years ago whose response tended to fade as it would get warm. The fan in it was too loud, fine for stage work but not for recording. It was a good amp, but not a great amp by me. What I liked best about it was its light (for the time) weight.

SVT is the best amp ever, imo. I am glad you are totally happy with your wt400. Take care.

LOL! I don't know why I came in here. Yeah, I've had better amps but I still voted the WT400 the best. Someone has to...

I doubled on a WT300 for a long time, took a break from music and in getting back to playing I re-tubed and cleaned it up and realized there was something I really disliked about it, but couldn't put my finger on it other than it had something to do with the enhance knob. Like dating for the first time after a long, overstayed, fizzled out and dried up relationship beyond the point of even caring to hate one another anymore for the wasted time, I started playing every amp I could and it finally dawned on me that Eden amps really color your sound. No matter how hard I tried to zero out that enhance knob or tweak the EQ, its a signature of the designer through what he feels is a specific and necessary compression found throughout his amp-lines and ultimately needs to be one of the reasons why you buy one.

So, with clarity of tone in mind I recently ended a new search for new life with the Genz Benz Shuttle 6 and haven't looked back since. If you love your Eden, there are definite reasons why and really can't be argued with as it is truly a matter of personal taste, especially with an Eden. I'll never take anything away from the quality and craftsmanship of Eden gear, they are worldclass all around, just not in my world.

That being said, I am happy to hear of anyone playing on the amp they feel is the best amp ever as there is really no better feeling ever knowing you are and now will always be backed by your favorite.

I don't think this thread is working out quite the way the OP intended.

So long as the op is happy- but I think he wanted more people to share his happiness. Tough crowd, but really a mediocre amp.

I bought one new in 1997, still working, still a great amp but bass amp design has really changed since it's inception.
Cons- fan is a little loud, 4 ohms is limiting on certain cab setups.
400 Watts is on the low side but covers most of my bar room gigs.

When it's comes To the Eden, never seen one actually. I think Dave Meros from Spock's Beard uses one, great tone, so the amp can not be bad.

Talking Nah!

Its more nearly an old SVT but in fact the very best will change depending on what sound you are after.
Thats kind of why I have 6 bass amps and 3 bass pre amps at the moment.
Pre amp wise its between a mesa boogie studio pre and an ampeg SVT11p with a tube screamer on the input.

Never tried an Eden amp but I love their speaker cabinets. But only my
preference, I'm sure you can get 1000 different opinions on this subject.

An amplifier is as personal a choice as the bass(es) you play. What is manna from heaven for one player could well be the worst amp in the world for another. If you like the amp that's great I'm very happy for you. Go out and play some music with it and help others to be happy too!

You've led a very sheltered (bass gear) life, my son...

Both wrong. Svt is perhaps the most famous bass amp ever.
As well as the most over-rated.

There you go.

A mediocre amp, by an evil corporation. IMHO.

Cheers,
