Eden WTDI World Tour Directbox

I decided to sell my amp but kept my cab. I recently started thinking if it would be possible to use the Eden WTDI World Tour Direct as my amp head. Is this possible? Will it sound any good?

Yes and yes. I've done it at shows before, just using he DI, no amp. Here's a comparison video I made using my WTDI without an amp. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4B9vLLAm3E

The WTDI is not an amplifier. You can't go straight from WTDI to a cabinet. You need an amplifier in between. The WTDI, by itself, does not put out enough power to drive a speaker cabinet. It can, however, be used as a pre-amplifier, and DI. I do this all the time. The XLR (DI) output of the WTDI goes to the PA system. The 1/4in output of the WTDI goes to my Ampeg PF-350 amp, then to the cabinet. Works fine. You could go directly from the WTDI into a combo amp/cab.

You will need an external poweramp of your choice to power the cab, using the WTDI as the pre-amp.

They do sound good too.

Agreed; I would just keep the Eden amp, they sound great with their slight warm tone

You left out a bunch of critical information here. No, the WTDI cannot be used as an amp head without a power amp or PA support. If you're going direct into the PA, it works bitchen (assuming your PA has subs) - I've done it many times when certain restrictions made it impractical to use a stage amp. It also works fine for direct recording.

So I would need to get another amp. I use my Eden all the time through PA and amp when I had it, it's a great little pedal with more tone control than I had expected.

Yes you need another amp, but it could be as simple as picking up a used PA power amp for cheap. I run my Aguilar Tone Hammer into a Peavey IPR 1600 and it is killer. Amp cost me all of $250 bucks, and I have more power than most would ever need.
