Electro Voice b410 reviews/ info

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys/gals-

I have been inthe market for a 2nd hand 4x10 (Eden XT is at the top of the list) but I found an EV B410 in my area.

I cannot, however find any reviews and very little info on these cabs. I will be powering it with 1000w carvin amp and a POD.

I have owned eden 410t, and the SVT 8*10 i loved them both for different reasons. I am looking for a good all around, loud, deep 4x10.

any thoughts on the EV?

Thanks

These are sleeper cabinets, I used to have two B-210 cabs that i used for a few years. I had a custom B-110 cab made that sounds great. Go for it. Stanley Clarke has a couple of the B-410 cabs.

Thanks Jeff-

They must be sleepers to get that small of a response !

Im gonna hopefully check uit out this weekend, Im really hot on the Eden 410XLT but if thing can get me close I might just pull the trigger!

I mean- EV makes huge PA cabinets right? It seems as though a bass cab would be a no brainer...

I've never heard the b410 but I've been tempted to buy one sight unheard in the past.

EV generally makes great stuff. Their TL-606 is an old school 15" bass cabinet that was fairly popular, and still is in some circles.

Go have a listen. If it sounds good and you can get a decent price I'd go for it.

A few years ago I spoke with someone at EV about why they discontinued these cabinets. The response was lack of sales. I told her the reason for lack of sales was their lack of marketing! I have never seen an ad anywhere on these, I just happened to stumble one the first B-210 I bought at a local store in the mid '90s.

I had one years ago and loved it - awesome sound and great power handling capability, but it was mighty heavy. I finally got rid of it and bought two Trace Elliot 2-10s.

My expereience with old EV cabs:
Well made; decent sound (not super hi-fi which suits me fine), medium power level handling, heavy as hell

I had one for a few years. Great sounding cab, but too heavy for me to keep lugging up and down the stairs.

I have one (just bought it a month or so ago for $250 + tubescreamer), but it's my first cab and I've only been playing bass since Christmas, so I can't offer much in the way of reviews.

I will attest that this cab is pretty heavy (almost 100 lbs), but it sounds great to my ears.

Also, you should fix the spelling in the thread title so future searches on this cab will be fruitful.

Buy it! Any decent 4X10 will be close to 100lbs, and EVs sound great! You won't be sorry.

I have them and love them, they use the 10-BX drivers, which use a special cone which is a bit glittery. The speakers have a huge bass extension and can handle a low B no problem, it's the same ones in Mesa's famous old-school Diesel/RR410s. The only difference being it doesn't have a tweeter, but with the frequency response from these drivers, you won't be missing anything.

They are about 100lbs each though, and they don't seem to make the same cones anymore.

Power-wise, 600W continuous long-term and 2400W short-term + a high sensivity. Not much you can complain about that!

If you don't pick them up, let us know so we can get in on them! If you do, let us know how they sound.
