Question Embarrassingly Noobish Question about Impedance

Sign in to disble this ad
Here is a mostly hypothetical situation for everyone willing to offer up some knowledge...

I own http://www.aguilaramp.com/products_cabinets_gs212.htm this cab (the 4ohm model). I have the Orange Bass Terror head, and I LOVE the rig for rock and blues gigs, but I could use something with less teeth for singer-songwriter gigs that I play fairly often. I was thinking about the Mark Bass LMIII but I'm confused about the impedance matching.

If I have the LMIII (a head that doesn't have a manually switchable impedance like the Terror Bass) can I just plug in one 4 ohm cab and the LMIII will run at 4 ohms? Does a head like the LMIII require two separate 8 ohm cabs to be plugged in to run at 4 ohms?
Hopefully this makes sense, and thanks in advance for any help.

Just plug'n'play with the LM2. Either a single 4 ohm cab or 2 8 Ohm cabs.

Solid State heads like the Markbass LM2 automatically adjust their impedence, you don't need a switch like with a tube amp

Thank you. I wasn't sure about the automatic adjustment of the impedance. This clears up quite a bit. Much appreciated.
