Eminence Beta 12 vs Delta 12

I'm looking at buying a V4 cab for my V4B and have been looking at several Eminence speakers. I'm thinking about s2012's for it, but I am also curious about the Delta and Beta 12's. What are the differences between the two, and which would be a better match for the sealed 412 cab?

I play a P bass with heavy flats, and am interested in a vintagey sound. Play classic rock and country.. 70's Doobie Bros type tone..

I have been using two Beta 12's in a sealed Ampeg cabinet fora couple years now. Overall, I'm happy with the portability of this setup. The tone is a compromise.

The p-bass sounds work very well with a GK head. The modern (j-type) sounds could benefit from more solid low end. I think that's more a function of the cabinet design and not necessarily a shortcoming of the speakers.

I went with the Betas for the sealed cabinet because of the extended x-max spec ...

The Beta has almost twice the Xmax of the Delta, Because the Delta is meant to be a PA mid range speaker.

Not sure Id buy 4 entry level speakers to throw in a box, By the time you pay for 4 speakers, tax and shipping your well in to replacement cab price.

So the Beta is a better choice for a sealed cab?

Not too worried about low lows, just want the sealed cab sound again. I've owned several ampeg 8x10s and a berg nv, and I want that vibe again.

Well there isn't a replacement cab per se for a 28" wide sealed 4x12. It's a unique cab. My head is 100 watts, so that's why I am wondering if the entry level speakers would be a good choice.

Beta. Delta has EBP of 120, too high for a sealed cab.

yep Beta 12A-2

handles much more power for fullrange than a delta, lower resonant frequency and somewhat decent EBP for sealed.

The guitar V4 cabinet is a tank, and yes it is alot to sink into an old cab
would be cool if you could find the Ampeg 2x15 horn loaded cabinet
that would match that V4 head nicely.

Also if you can find a old SWR workingmans 4x12 those come loaded with Eminence special design drivers
very similar to the Beta12A-2
The SWR cab is ported though

Thanks for the reply. The s2012's are $30 more each, so the extra $120 for 4 of those isn't that bad.
