Hey Guys,
A while back, I purchased a Peavey Combo 210, that the previous owner had replaced the peavey drivers w\ Eminence Legend BP102's. He included the original peavey drivers in the sale as well. So I was thinking....yeah, always dangerous...why not put the originals back in the peavey, and put the eminence's in a separate cab, then can use that as an extension cab.
So my question for those of you in the know is....where can I get my hands on a decent empty 210 cab? Normally I would consider building, but right at this point in time, that's not really an option. Looks like the driver likes lots of volume in a vented enclosure to get the low end extension....somewhere around 5 cu ft, tuned to 32 would give a slight hump starting at like 75, and -3dB @ 38. Seems pretty a pretty fair compromise imo..
So any suggestions? |

The bp's are 8 ohms each, so yeah it will be a 4 ohm cab. the panel on the combo says 4 ohm minimum, so that should be good. |

. | Read the FAQ, specifically the waterfall plots. The Fridge only goes to -3dB at 58Hz. |

Not needed at all. Plenty of people play low B's and as far as I know, there aren't any cabs that reach 31hz. Most of the power is at the 1st harmonic, 62hz. A lot of 410's start falling off around 80 or even 100.
4ohm minimum. 4ohm ext. cab + the speakers in the combo end up being less than that. |

I'll have to come back and read more when I'm a little fresher. and man theres a ton of other good info in that FAQ sticky, thanks!

To the earlier point, even in most cabs that roll off high, the fundamental is represented to some degree although it may be 10db or even more down from the rest of the harmonics. You will miss it if it's gone completely but it isn't needed at near the output of the rest to make a good bass sound. Upright bass is another breed-o-cat. There the fundamental and first overtone are close to even in output, electric bass, no. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
