THE END OF DAYS

Sign in to disble this ad
so i have a gk 115 sbx II. I want to add another cab. i have read the stickies on mixing a 2x10 with a 15, but it almost sounds like having a mismatched 15 would be just as bad. now the real question is how bad is bad. is it a loose of allot of volume, is it thin crappy tone, will it bring on the end of days. I could just lug my cab to the store and try it out with different cabs but before i go through all that a little insight might help. besides i love watching people inter web fight.

Put em up....Put em up (lion in Alice in Wonderland).
Take your cab and find one that will play nice with your existing cab

The problem with mixing cabs is that it is unpredictable. Thus you have to suck it and see.

If you like the tone of the cab you have, add another for more volume. If you don't like it, get a different cab and move it one.

Simply put, mix-matching cabs will potentially do this to your tone (could be one or all of them):
  1. Certain frequencies will disappear while others will be stronger.
  2. One of the cabs will usually be louder than the other cab and drown that one out.
  3. One cab will take more volume and the other cab will not be able to go as loud or as low as the other cab.
  4. You will most likely end up liking the cab that is closer to your ears rather than the cab on the floor.

Some people like the resulting "bad sound", and that is why people do it. When I mixed a 212 and a 410 (EDEN XLT series) I could not dial out the low mid muddiness nor could I add in enough clarity. When I ditched the 212 and got another 410, each speaker responded the same way to my tone adjustments. It was MUCH easier to change my tone venue to venue.

You can do whatever you want, but I think you should go look for another GK SBX 115 and rock two of them. You get everything you like at the moment with more volume.

i suck it up daily but it doesn't mean that i like it. and i don't work retail i kind of work retail. I am a cook at a super market. it's were the "i use to be a line cook but that gig sucked" go to die. try telling a little old lady how to cook a ham with a strait face. really, shes like 90 years old and doesn't know how to cook a ham. the only resone a 90 year old woman shouldn't know how to cook a ham is that is use to be Jewish. or when some customer asks when the potpies will be done and you tell them 15 minuets. and they say can i have it in 5. like gods going to change the laws of thermodynamics for me.

wow reading this back really proves to me i need a vacation thank god it starts soon.

I'm sorry, but that really cracked me up! I know it can be irritating, but you do get some funny stories to tell the friends.

As we ARE so off topic: Just 'cos a person is female doesn't mean that they can cook! If you are asked a question by someone who needs an answer, it's courtesy to answer properly and with respect for the people who indirectly pay your wages.

Just look at some of the questions posed on this site. Some are absolutely obvious BUT if the person is posing the question in good faith it should be answered properly.

I have been mixing and matching cab types and brands for years. Some results are awesome, some... not so much.

in no way am i saying that all woman should know how to cook if they did i would be out of a job. but it is a cultural thing this woman grew up in an era were there were no tv diners, no inter web and people were able to thrive on a one income family. and i was respectful and nice to her but to say that i wasn't disturber or confuse would be dishonest. i have helped customers find things in the store that was well out of my department wile on brake. was i happy, no, did i do it with a smile yes. that's my job. but in the same regards we have to realize that the people in the service indy. are not EFING slaves.

So if you have a GK 115 sbx II...then buy another GK 115 sbx II

Guitar Center and Music Go Round will all sell their used stuff and ship it too yah.....

So doo a search......And buy dah cab....easy
I found a few in one search

Guitard Center GK 115 sbx II

Music Go Round GK 115 sbx II

---------------------------------------

That cabinet uses a Ceramic magnet Cast Frame Speaker=

GK-Paragon 15B200-8

most the new cabs use a GK-Paragon 15B400-8

so find a cab with a 200 or buy a new 400 loaded cab and replace the one you got with a 400 too

or sell it and buy matching from the start

Even i can cook a Ham, great story by the way made me LoL
