Epifani 112 cabs

Sign in to disble this ad
looking for feedback about the UL 112 (and the DIST too, if anyone has used it). I finally need to go the lightweight 2x112 route and trying to decide on a speaker config, so I'm considering Epifanis, if they can deliver at their price points. Any opinions appreciated!

I've owned a few Epi cabs, including a couple of UL112s, and Epi was my favorite for quite awhile. Epifani UL cabs are a bit mid-scooped, so if you're looking for mid-present, punchy cabs they may not be your thing.

There was a bit of controversy for a while as the weights of the UL2 series as listed on their website didn't match the actual weights. I think they may have corrected that of late, not sure.

They're nice sounding and well made cabs and are much loved by many TBers.

EDIT: I much preferred the UL110/UL112 combination over 2xUL112s. It's magical. I'm not alone in this opinion.

I'll go with the UL110/UL112 magic too. I hate having to choose between this stack and my UL310.

I also tried a UL112/AE210 stack. KILLER! Who would have thought? Very complimentary stack.

I use a UL112 on smaller gigs and it's excellent. I don't find it particularly mid-scooped; it just doesn't add any flattering mids as it has more of a "flat" response overall, with a very full and even low end.

I have played with a UL + PS 112. It was sufficient for small and big venues, with a very nice sound for electric and upright bass.

What kind of amps do you guys use with these cabs?

Also, if anyone has tried the DIST cab I'd love to hear about it... really wondering if it is worth the premium

+1 - My experience has been very similar. The 112 has been very full, and exactly what I need on rehearsal and small-club/restaurant situations for my jazz trio. I use a Markbass LM2, which I also pair (separately, not with the 112) with a UL410 for louder/rock gigs and rehearsals.

+2 I've had (2) UL112 cabs and used them together for medium sized gigs w/o PA support without any problems using a shuttle 6.0. I wish I still had those cabs. Great flexibility using one cab for small gigs and rehearsals. 30 pounds each made for an easy loadin/out.
