Sign in to disble this ad
Hello, i just bought a UL 4x10 S1 and was just wondering what the differences are, if any?
Sound, tone, weight, and reliabilty?
I purchased from a fellow TB'er, (thanks DCR!!)
I havent received the cab yet, but the money is on the way, so hopefully, ill get it sometime next week.
Anyways, I was just curious about the differences,
TIA
Randy

Also recall comments on here of subtle tonal difference, and that they got heavier as time when on, but I dont know if that was wood, design, or drier related. the earlier UL's were italian poplar, which was light stuff. Newer ones???
I know that the UL 112 SI I played through briefly was SWEET.
Nice grab, nice cab.

My good friend Stacey has the S2 410, and it sounded huge, too. But for me, and him, the S1 was more appealing. We were able to A/B them and prefered the S1. |

However, as you say, very subtle. I used both and in our many GTG comparisons, you could only really tell the difference listening very closely.
The newer SII cabs are quite a bit heavier, but sound the same as the earlier SII's.
All sound good, and very slight EQ can make each one sound like the other IMO and lots of IME. |

I also find that combining both 210 cabs has noticeably more low end than the UL410 alone. BTW, none of this seems problematic, LOL.

Too much of a good thing for my taste IME.
