It was announced 3 1/2 years ago at NAMM and was to ship that year. It was listed for sale by some retailers in 2008 and even listed as "finally available" at one point. It still hasn't shipped. It has been redone and the packaging and features look even cooler.

Since then the UL501 was announced and is finally shipping, so maybe this will be the year for the Piccolo. A search of Epifani and UL501 threads will provide some details on the Piccolo, and I believe a couple of folks played the latest iteration at NAMM 2011. A couple of retailers are taking advanced orders, perhaps you could contact them to see what they may know. To the best of my knowledge no one knows the projected ship date.

I thought they were just taking "advanced orders". It will be interesting to see if they indeed have them.

Epifani Piccalo 600

Just got one last night. (Basssouthwest) Used it for 3 hours w/ a loud Latin style band. Fanfriggntastic.

I was using my Series 2 UL112 and a Series 2 UL110 together for cabs.

I a/b 'ed it with my 502 which is no slouch in my book and they were similar, the piccalo sounded ballsier, a bit creamier, i could feel it more than the 502. Seems more powerfull to me as well.

Its so light, very elegant appearance, and the feet clear the handles on the cab as well. Tha always bugged me about the 502.

Overall, this amp is a winner for sure. It took a long time to actually get there, but its good stuff maynard.

my 2 cent

Sound warmer but not as punchy. Very similar to 902c
played the 501 w a DIST 12 @ 4 ohm. If I had the cheese I would have a 501.

I have one on the way from Bass San Diego. It has to go coast to coast, so it will be next week before I try it out. Should be interesting after this very long wait - at least a couple of years for me.

I've played one a few times. I agree with your observations. After going back and forth between the 501 and the Piccolo, I might go with the 501 if I had the extra bucks.....MAYBE I really liked the vintage feature on the 600. It doesn't sound like the usual scooped faux vintage thing. It's a very usable setting. It would sound great with my UL112/UL110 stack.

So after a very looong time coming, I finally received my Piccolo yesterday. A very nice amp. If I had been able to get one when it was announced years ago I would have kept it for sure, but now that I finally have one I find that it is a bit too warm for my current taste and cabs. It will be up for sale.

A big thumbs up for Bass San Diego. They were great to deal with - excellent communication and they shipped it same day.

Does warm or creamy mean muddy at all? Hard to believe it didn't sound great with the MB-2 and Acme 112. I would use it through a Berg HT112ER, which maybe would complement it better (?). Any thoughts anyone?
