Epifani PS115; very surprising!

So I got a chance to go to BassNW today to try out some cabinets that I'm considering to go with my Eden WT550. I was looking at the Bergantino HT and HS 112's, the Eden cabinets, and the GK Neo 112.

First up were the Bergs. Simply put, they did nothing for me. They didn't sound bad, I just didn't like them.

Next up was an Eden 212XLT. This was an excellent cabinet. Lots of Eden goodness with a nice fat sound and a nice mid presence. I really liked this cab, but it was a bit beat up (used) and overpriced, IMO.

Then we moved onto the GK Neo 112, and once again, I just did not care for it. It was a bit too, I don't know, brittle sounding? It had a nice GK sound, but I didn't feel it went all that well with the Eden for what I was looking for. That and the fact that it started farting out pretty easily when pushed to moderate volumes.

So as I was walking around the store, I noticed two Epifani cabinets that looked new, but apparently they were used, with a very nice price point. I know nothing about Epifani, and even less about the Performance Series. I kind of wrote Epifani off because of the descriptions that are most often used for them.
I asked to bring it up front and plug it in. The gentleman helping me plugs it into the Eden and grabs a Nash J bass, turns it up and...wow! It seemed like a mix between the Bergs and the Eden. It had plenty of clarity and punch, but still had some old school warmth and a really nice mid push that I simply loved. It also had one of the sweetest top ends I've heard; and I'm not normally a treble kind of guy. We cranked the Eden and the Epi handled it wonderfully. The slaps and pops were stunning as well.

The cab seemed built very well. The cab is not small by any means, but they were fairly light at around 50 pounds, and easy to carry.

There doesn't seem to be a ton of information on this cab, so I figured I'd write this up. I think I might be picking this 2X15 stack up this week. I really liked it.

Yeah those Epi PS are very nice sounding cabs. Like a more refined Eden sound. However, they are quite heavy, also like an Eden in that regard.

Sounds like you like a nice full low-mid in your cab, from your comment of the Eden and Epi PS. I think you will like the Aguilar DB112 too.

You are right that the description that are used for Epi are mostly towards their UL cabs. And that probably dose not suit your tone goal.

I don't realize that Berg has a HS112. But If you are not limited to 12"s, the other Berg HS are in the same full low-mid tonal neighborhood.
