Epifani Series 1 10" speaker specs for UL410

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello TALKBASS!

Need help. Does anyone know the Speaker spec's for the Series 1 10" driver used in a Series 1 Ul410? Not the cabinet specs, just the speaker spec's.
I own a 4 ohm UL410, which means the ohms is 16 per speaker. I need to now the frequency response, etc. to match up a speaker......why.....
I need to replace a driver, and the cost is almost $200.00from Nick @ Epifani........not sure if I want to go that route......

I also realize that NEO speakers are expensive......but......

any suggestions would be appreciated.......

Thanks!

They are unique to Epifani and the UL series cabs.

You seem to be really upset over $200 for a pro speaker that's going into a $1000+ top end bass cabinet ( I say this due to the multiple posts on the same subject...); but it is the best route to go if you can't recone it. Unfortunately gear maintenance is part of the job.

Or else you could sell that cabinet and buy a Behringer or something so that when you blow speakers in that you'll only have to spend $75 or $80, but don't mention the change in sound or performance.

Don't get me wrong, I love the cab........I've never blown a speaker in 25+ years of playing.......but like tires they sometimes go...........and I have a back-up cab, which is fine....NEO's are expensive to begin with.......I guess you can say I'm frustrated.......and the warranty doesn't expire until the end of the month.
Nick wants me to send the speaker back........but I honestly don;'t think that will help.......I did the test where you have the cone facing the ceiling, and you move with your left finger & righter finger the cone back & forth......it sounds like me as a kid jumping on a bed, and the sound of the box spring.....which tells me it's the speaker, voice coil, out of allign, all of the above.

I mean you have a good point..........the sound of a cab doesn't make the player......a good player can make make crap sound good.
Even if I sell the cab, I need to put the original in there.......and I won't sell that cab.

I must admit I would not go the "cheap replacement route." However, if the Epifani replacement is not exactly the same as the original B&G drivers, I would be tempted to do what you are seeking to do. But then, I would ditch the cab.

Don't get me wrong. I really dig my UL1 410. It is a superb cab and blows away most any other cab of any size or cost. However, the idea of not having the original sound after a driver replacement would make me crazy.

hmmm..... do those drivers all share a common cabinet area? If so, keep all 4 the same. Without getting too technical, impedance varies with frequency, and wattage varies with impedance. If the speakers aren't in sync in relation to their impedance curves, all sorts of things can go wrong and you're most likely to have further problems down the track.
