Epifani UL112

I was going to go GK for my cab purchase, but now I'm thinking about doing 2 - 112 speakers for a bit more flexibility. I found an Epifani UL112 for sale and I'm interested. I'm intrigued because I've read a bunch on here about these cabs and they seem like they're more "hi-fi" and don't add a lot of color.

What do you guys think this cab is worth? This is the original UL and not the UL2. Thanks in advance.

I don't think of Epi cabs as hi-fi. I owned several, including the 112, and found them very smooth and somewhat scooped, in a nice way. I'd say they have their own color as they don't sound like Berg, Schroeder or other cabs.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'm trying out a pair tomorrow, so I guess I'll get to hear them with my own ears.

I've seen used UL2-112s in very good condition for $400+ on TB. UL Series 1 is more desired by some, so it depends on condition.

Thanks. Looks like this makes my decision easier... as long as it passes the ear test.

By the way, although 2 x UL112s is a nice rig, there are several (including me) who find the UL112/UL110 combination very special.

Just so it's not too easy a decision

Nothing is an easy decision in the GAS game. I'm probably going to pull the trigger on 1 tomorrow and if I dig the tone in a rehearsal setting I'll probably pull the trigger on a second.

Hey, if we all had the same scenic views as those from Nude Zealand, we'd probably mellow out.

Missed out on the pair I was going to try and probably buy. UGH! I've decided that I want higher end stuff... I'm completely sold on the 2 x 112 setup. More flexibility and it should likely be enough power for nearly any gig.

My short list:

Aguilar DB112 x2
Epifani UL112 x2
Berg XL112 x2

Any other thoughts and/or suggestions?

I played thru a ul112 series one stack for 2 years or so and definitely have seller's remorse. Very full sounding, loud and super portable. The series 1 cabs are 30LBS and quite a bit lighter than the new ones.

Great, great cabs IMO/IME.

I own 2 PS112's. Killer cabs that have the ceramic mag speakers instead of the neo mags. I prefer ceramic. Warm, clear and loud when paired! Slightly heavier than the UL's though.

love my PS 112. Weighs about 30 lbs, not too bead at all to haul around. The top strap handle would not be my first choice in transport design, but I have been using it for I think almost 2 years now and no problems.

i've had great experience with my UL-112, powering it with a Little Mark LM2, perfect for jazz gigs. Warm, smooth, full, etc.

I was thinking about getting a second UL-112, and using the two for some louder rock-ish gigs I'm doing but, for now, I'm going with a UL-410, 4 ohms. It's incredibly loud, probably way more than I need (although it's nice and light, and super-portable with casters), so I may eventually sell it and go with two 112s.
