Epifani UL112: genuine?

Sign in to disble this ad
i have one that i'm considering purchasing used. looks like an Epifani compared to pics i've seen. i noticed on the back control plate, the model #, impedance and power handling were all hand written in and the ink is very faded.
the model number appears to say "F112UL" or could be
"T-112UL".
the impedance appears to say "8 ohms" and the power handling appears to say "300w". serial # is stamped on a silver sticker and is #0022xx. label states "Epifani custom sound
Brooklyn, NY

can anyone familiar with this cab confirm for me that sounds right for the handwritten parts? i'm not sure what the age of the cab is. sounds really good and i'm impressed with the volume and deepness of the tone coming out.
i've not opened the cab up or pulled out the speakers to see what kind they are. could anyone comment on what i might expect to find for genuine Epifani components when i do?
thanks

Sounds right to me. I have a series 1 UL 112 and mine has pretty much the same things written on the control plate - T-112UL, 8 ohms, SN 20xx, 300w. (Maybe 400w, the first number is hard to read. 300w is probably closer to right.) The series 1 UL 112s had a B & C woofer. I believe series 2 have an Eminence woofer.

I would guess the one you're looking at is a series 1. I have another series 1 UL 112, and your serial number falls between the two of mine.

Your back panel description pretty much matches mine. I too am curious though. The dust cap doesn't say Epifani (though that may only be on the NYC T-series. When I pulled the speaker out, the magnet is shaped like a chrome donut with no writing on it. Is that what you have? Mine is also series I. Sounds great though.
