Looks like the new D.I.S.T. cabs are starting to ship out next week. I would love to have one but $1699 + shipping is a little steep. Is this cabinet really this good? How does everyone else feel about this?

Very expensive. They've been out for a while. From what a retailer told me, they won't 'ship', but rather are special order items built one at a time.

The good news... they are back to the original UL S1 and early SII weight (the 410 is back to 57 pounds or so I believe). Also, since they are custom orders with a spray on or roll on finish, you can have any color you want!

The bad news, ridiculous price, and the impedance switching, according to the Bass Player Magazine review, doesn't really work like you would think in the multiple driver cabs. For the 410, they reported that while the impedance of the cab changed as designed with the dual voice coils (a good thing), the SPL actually declined at the 4ohm setting, pretty much negating the impact of the lower impedance.

So, I guess the good news is the Epi 'switch' isn't a scam like the Accugroove thing, but it still doesn't really work in a way that makes the extra $600 or so versus the UL worth it.

My new Series 2 UL-410 (about 3 weeks old) is exactly 57 pounds, so I will confirm that.

That's not what I meant. I meant that the DIST cabs are back to the original UL weight. As far as I know, the current 410UL's are about 65 pounds. You might have gotten an 'old stock' new one (lucky you!). They just upgraded the site, and still have the weight for the 410UL listed as 64 pounds.

The new website show the DIST cabs in Vinyl covering now instead of the Spray on prototypes. At this price point, I do not think the design is going to take off.
