EQ/Pre for Orange TB 500

Sign in to disble this ad
I was using my TB 500 through a Berg AE 112 for 6 hours yesterday at a rehearsal. I used a '65 JB and a Warwick Dolphin ro I. The Warwick (active) sounded great. I could get a varoety of tones and great low end.

The JB sounded thin. I felt like I needed to tweak the mids, which of course you can't do with any fine granularity with the TB.

I was thinking I need something like a Aguilar Tone Hammer or Eden WTDI pre pedal to put in front of this combo for my passive basses.

I love the tone of the TB, 500 watts and tubes and light weight.

Anyone thoughts/experience with these pedals in front of the TB or suggestions for other pedals/small pres?

The VT Bass gets a lot of love around here. Is this a digital pedal? The bass player review suggests it is not a digital modeling box.

The preamp pedals mentioned so far were built for this exact purpose. Which one you like will be up to you. FWIW I have owned the Tone Hammer and the BDDI and still own the Tone Hammer.

Ooops...my bad, should have read the SA site carefully: "all-analog signal path".

I meant the Tech 21 site.

" FWIW I have owned the Tone Hammer and the BDDI and still own the Tone Hammer" ... I used one when I sat in with a relatives band. I did't get a lot chance to test it out but I remember it could get a wide variety of tones. I also like it as the pre in the Spector high end basses.

I like the idea of the VT Bass being all analog. I need to check that out.
