EQ shapes

On a 3 band EQ, do the frequencies boost only at the frequency points (eg. 60hz), or do they "slant" towards the EQ point like EQ curves are usually set on a graphic EQ like here:


Also, on an EQ like the Ashdown ABM500, would it have the same effect as changing the mids frequency center if I boost one of the sliders and leave the mids control flat?

they can be built to do whatever, but generally 3 bands do affect much wider ranges of frequencies than their centers. not sure what would happen on the ashdown, but yeah, if the sliders affect different freqs than the mid knob, it would have the same effect.
