EQ suggestions for Hartke

Sign in to disble this ad
Just started using a LH500 Hartke for my live gigging to replace my old 76 vintage SVT. I use 2 or 3 different basses live, mainly my old Rickenbacker, but also a JB and a fretless JB. I need to get up to speed fast with some advanced tone shaping on stage and wonder if anyone has advice on a switchable , multi band EQ that I could use to set-up a couple different EQ curves for the very different basses I use.

Look for a 2 channel stomp box type preamp. Radial BassBone leaps to mind, but there are many others.

Line 6 bass pod is effective and reliable. I've used it but never owned it. It's easy enough to save your EQ presets for each instrument, and it has user-friendly controls. You also get amp-modeling and some other cool effects.

Just so you know, 'Flat' EQ on the LH500 is about 2-10-0.

Boss makes a programmable EQ that would work. I forget the model number.

Boss EQ-20

Hello,

mentioned pedal is DSP based Boss EQ-20. It is discontinued now, but available used.. It is only programmable EQ in pedal format, which i'm aware of.. (i haven't use it personally, so can't comment quality.)

Boss EQ 20 | eBay

There are another options which i would try,

- VT Bass Deluxe (programmable, SVTish tone stack)
- EBS Micro Bass II (two independent channels)

not dedicated programmable EQ, but both can be nicely used to expand tonal palette of your amp and serve as good DI for backup.
