Exclamation EU and UK IEC lead confusion!

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently purchased a head from Germany, but it came with an IEC lead with a european 2-pin connector with a 16A fuse. However, as I live in the UK, British IEC leads have a 13A fuse.

I was simply wondering whether using a British IEC lead would cause any problems as such, or whether I'm just worrying about nothing

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I just want to get playing and test this baby out!

From Thomann is it? I've gotten lots of stuff of them in the past with EU plugs supplied and never had any issue with using UK type 13A plugs (same in Ireland).

It is indeed haha.
Yeah, I did read their FAQ on it, but it said 'depending on the product bought' about using the UK 13A connection, so I wasn't sure.
In particular, have you had any amps from there that worked with the different connection?

I e-mailed Behringer and Thomann, and they both said the British IEC lead, and an adaptor were fine, infact, Thomann even sent me a free one!
love those guys!

haha, nah I just wasn't sure whether the amp would work properly only using 13A instead of 16A.....turns out I was worrying about nothing though! *FACEPALM*

As I advised in another almost identical thread, you should check the value of the amps power fuse. The fuse in the plug should be sized to the next value up from that.
