Euphonic Audio iAMP effects for warmth?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello to all EA iAMP users, what effects are being used out there to "warm-up" the tone of this super clean head?
By "warm" I mean some tube like softness.

I had the iAMP 800. It got that nice warmth with the pre cranked from 1:00 even 3:00. Master where you want it. It has "audio taper" pots so it keeps getting louder when you crank it. In the case if yhr pre all these delicious harmonics emerge. Then I fell in love. Shame I'd sold it and it was about to be boxed. I'd used it for two years with the most tepid setup. Pre at 11:00 Master 11:00. Tepid, tame, tired. Well unleash the beast! Try eq flat, do my suggestion then add eq carefully. Enjoy!

VT Bass?

Although I don't own an EA, I have spent some time with both the iAmp 500 and 800. My recollection is that they were perhaps a bit "sterile" sounding. I remember using the EA heads and then switching back to my Eden and everyone in the band noticed that it sounded better with the band. Something like the VT Bass might add a little roundness and tube-like "give" to the sound. Bear in mind, though, that it is a pedal which requires some careful adjustment to find the sweet spots.

Great ideas here. I was considering the VT and the EBS... also a DHA of some description too. First I'll try Chadds suggestion.

I've got a SIB Fatdrive for sale in the amp's section!

Seriously, this preamp did a terrific job warming up my iAMP Pro and iAMP Micro. Lots of clean tube boost. Similar preamps would do the same job. Here's a clip of what the Fatdrive + Micro sounded like at a gig:
"Godfather Theme" played by The Stormy Weathermen - YouTube

The iAMP Pro offers a "deep" button that warms its signal, however it's useful only at low volume. Higher volume starts distorting the signal. That's why you'll need an external preamp for loud, clean warmth.

P bass with flats. Then the iAMP sounds very warm

Contour 1 or 2 can sound great depending on the room.

The DHA VT1 or VT1 EQ is a tube preamp pedal that could give you some warmth. It can do distortion, but it is also easy to get a very clean warm sound out of it.

I have a VT Delux and a BassPod. With both I can dial in any sort of vintage tones from warm subtle overdrive to crunchy grind. But, with the eq flat, I can get a good warm tone from some of my basses (Ken Smith and Fender Jazz) or I can get clear sparkle with others (Ric), depending on my tone settings and how I'm playing.

I use a rack mounted bass pod pro for live use and the bass pod pro live for studio recording with my Iamp 800 and Warwick basses.
I also added a rack mounted compressor.

The tones you can achieve in are so versatile.

Best of luck
