Open it up and look?

Most likely they are EVM-15L

But I believe they used the 15B as well?

I have a pair of 15Ls in mine - L is for lead, but they sound great. Nice and throaty, like a Harley.

15B's OEM for Boogie in the 800 watt version of this cab. The 15L loaded cabs say 400 watt handling. IIRC of course....

Maybe right but aren't the newer 15L recone kits rated at 400 watts instead of the older 200 watt ones?

400 watt EVM-15L. Those Mesa cabs were designed specifically for that speaker. They never used the EVM-15B.

I think they switched to Eminence later on when EV EOLed the EVM15L.
Those cabs are the voice of god for sure. Currently looking for one actually. Figured out that my 2x12/1x15 isnt cutting it. I need more.

To the OP.

Not sure about you later model cab, but as early as ’82 / ’83 they offered the 200 and 400 watt 15’s in only the EV -L. The 4x12 model was offered in three different speaker models, EV- L, Black Shadows and Celestion.

EOL=End of Life. Computer geek-ese.
When Microsoft determines an old operating system or program is obsolete it will first cease to be sold, then a few years later it is no longer supported either. At that point it is EOL-ed.
I cant keep all the EV models straight.
Most all EV 15" I have ever used sounded great though.
The SRO was great, the EVM15L was great. the 15b is really similar and good. Even the budget "force" line with the computery-futuristic logo and 150 watt rating sounds good.

hey yeah was deff. a fan of his tone though ironically enough I never knew this is what he used.

that tone, and shellac / jesus lizard bass sound is for sure my orientation.

are you sure it was an SVTII he used as some sources report a SVT 400T

which would really surprise me as that is just 200 solid state watts and he had like 4 big ass mesa cabs

One way to tell if the speaker is a EV-15L with an OEM cone, is the EV15L has ribs in the cone and the EV15-b , has a smooth cone ( No Ribs)
