I am very tempted by this beast. I know Denis Rozon built amps and high end effects. Its a long shot, but anyone know where I can get in touch with him? I would love to know more about this amp.

I can only tell you that I want it. Looks to have some good features, but mostly because it looks supremely cool. Isn't that what's really important?

Yeah..I want it too! I think it comes with a footswitch. I know Denis Rozon made some killer guitar amps, I would love to get in touch with him and see how this was designed and built.
I bet it was a lot more than 600$ when it was new.

In general, wouldn't 4 6550's put out more than 100 watts?
I can't really try out the amp first and I wonder if it will have enough power?
Its a strange one for sure...the guy got back to me and told me his bassist paid 2000$ for it in 1990, one of the original booteek amps.

With enough plate volts and a decent output transformer a pair of 6550's can get 100 watts at about <1% distortion.

Yes, you could be getting upwards to 225 watts out of a quartet of 6550's. 100 clean watts without pushing anything also makes sense.

Thanks, I asked the seller to send me some pics of the transformers. I know that Rozon used very high quality components..this could be a good sleeper for 600 bucks.

Not too much interest in this thread, but I am going to buy it on Sunday for 500$. It comes with a footswitch for channel switching and a boost which has its own control.
How can I go wrong for 500$??
Any advice on what kind of 6550's are good for bass?
Whe knows, maybe it will be loud enough with only 2 tubes.

winged C SED "=C=" are pretty much the go-to 6550 for most folks. Amost all the other 6550 are made by New Sensor, and there are a few Chinese ones that aren't so great.
The SED sound good and last long. The new Sensor ones seem to run out of life a lot faster than any other power tube I have ever used. But they sound good.

PS the original booteek bass amp would be Mesa, right?

I guess Mesa would be, but I think they were slightly more massed produced. I bet this amp might be the only one of its kind in exsitence. I am familiar with his guitar amps and they are top notch, so I would expect the same from this amp.
Thanks for the reply about the tubes.
This thread seems to be folding faster than Gary Buttman taking a Zdeno Chara slap-shot to the gut.

If there are four 6550s in the amp and it is indeed 100W then it likely has cathode bias. That means you would be free to install any brand of 6550 and it would be plug and play. If there are two 6550s then the amp must be fixed bias and any output tube change will need to have the bias reset.
