I've been having trouble with my rig.. I've been running my Eden wt550 at 2phms with a 210 and a 410.. And after tb suggestions... I tried running just the 410.. And I took it a few steps further.. First: I showed up early and turned the bass down on the guitard's amp (I asked him literally 5 times and he pretended to turn the bass down).. And his bass knob on his Deville was at 9 with mids at like 3 and highs at 7.. Even I know that's rediculous on a Deville and I'm a bassist..

Secondly I laid my cab flat (off of the casters, and rolled off some bass frequencies).. Which gave me more head room.. I cut through the mix, was able to boost my main volume louder than I ever could without clipping, I cut through the mix, and liked my tone all in a VeRY small and unforgiving rehearsal space... I just want to say thanks for all of the advice!!

I'm torn between telling you how awesome it is you did that and how that was bad form messing with someone else's gear.

I am interested to know how the guitard was with his tonal shift.

I turned the knob back by like 2.. And he didn't even notice.. But I sure did. He played by himself with no one else playing and was like "why does this sound different..." and I thought I was found out. Than he said "oh yeah.. I forgot the reverb." haha

I did what had to be done. It was for the greater good of the band and I don't regret it.

Similar problem here with guitar EQ. I think I'll try a more direct approach in my case, however

That is too funny. I was playing with a guy that had an Orange AD30 and I wasn't cutting through. I told him that if he turned his bass down then we'd each have our own space and it would sound awesome. He said he didn't want to mess with his setting because he had an acoustic gig the next day. I didn't push it since it was just a fun jam, but really? You can't find your settings on a 3 band passive EQ?

Maybe you could keep it going; after a couple more practices dial it back another 10%. Lather, rinse, repeat until you sound amazing or he notices what's different .

Well I'm probably gonna press my luck once more and dial it back 1 or 2 more.. But after that I think my Shenanigans will cease. Now that I'm being heard, I'm fairly happy. And guitarists are most definitely a special breed!

Many many years ago I was set up on stage next to the rhythym guitarist who was playing a LP through a full stack (100 watt tube head plus two 4x12's).

After the first song, I was asked by some folks in the audience "please turn your bass down". Okay, I did not think I was cranked up loud, but what the heck, I dialed it back. Next song, same thing, "turn down your bass please!" Okay, I dialed it back even more. Same thing "turn down!!" Finally I turned off my amp completely and guess what "hey you are still too loud!!" Now my playing may suck, but there was absolutely no way I was audible to anybody on the planet.

The "bass" they heard was coming from the rhythym guitarist. Fortunately he was aware of the proceedings and he not only turned down his volume, he dialed back his bass EQ.

And equally as important the lesson began to sink in: it's a combined band effort, where everybody must sit in the mix correctly for the overall sound to be its best. This includes both volume and frequency range.

The concept of "assault the audience with as much volume as you can put forth" doesn't hold much validity in the bands I've played in recently nor in the clubs I've played at recently.

LOL if someone turned my rig from say...12 o'clock to 7 o'clock on the bass knob I sure hope I'd hear it on my bass rig. "Why do I sound so thin today?"

Frankly, I welcome input from my bandmates on issues of volume and tone. I may or may not agree, but input is welcome. Just like I welcome input on issues of composition and playing style. "Hey, you should do that riff only every other time," or "you should blast a high note on that last crash."

People who do not welcome this kind of advice from their own band members need to grow up, IMO.

That one would be hard to detect, I can see that.
