ext. speaker jack question

Sign in to disble this ad
UPDATE: the problem was actually the speaker cable, not the jack.

quick question for anyone who may know off hand... my guitarist's amp is acting up, and it seems like the speaker jack is the culprit. the sound cuts out, and sometimes we can get it to work again if we wiggle the plug in the speaker jack a bit. it's an epiphone triggerman 60 dsp combo, solid state. it features an extension speaker jack next to the main one, and i was curious if it would work instead of the regular jack, or if that would screw up the amp? i know that with some amps, it's not good to turn them on without a speaker plugged in, so i thought i'd ask before trying anything.

Hi.

Since it's an SS amp, and only a tiny fraction of modern SS amps use transformer coupled output devices, it's pretty safe to say on cen operate this particular amp without the speaker load.

Now, whether the jacks are just wired parallel or if there's additional switching in 'em, that's impossible to tell, but if it works with the extension speaker jack there probably isn't.

Regards
Sam

Maybe try a different speaker cord.
