Extension Cabinet for Markbass 102 Combo

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone...I just bought the Markbass 102p combo amp and want to add an extension cab. I am leaning towards the standard 151H rear vented cab but not sure. I think I want a front vented cabinet because they seem to be louder...does anyone have any experience with the standard 102 front vented cab or the front vented 1x15 cab(now discontinued). I play in a classic rock band and sometimes play outdoor gigs...

The 151P stacks nicely with the 102p combo. It's a lot bigger cabinet that the NYC 151, and volume is the key if you want the low tones.

Peter Murray is the grand poobah of all things Markbass and he may weigh in on this thread as he's been seen around these parts. I asked Peter the same question, and his reccomendation was to consider the following options:

410HF - Best headroom and low end extension....but heavier
410HR - Smaller cab than the HF, so you lose a bit of bottom end
210HF - More portable than the 410 cabs
Traveler 210 - Even more portable...less low end

He reccomended staying with 10" drivers and cautioned against the myth that a 15" will play deeper than a 10".

I've tried the 151P attached to the 102P and it sounded huge. I ended up taking Peter's advice and ordering the 210HF. I believe 4 10's will be plenty, and if I need less, I can take half the rig.

210HR -

If your amp is a 2x10 combo, then the BEST choice for an ext cab would be another 210. Period.
