fan on XLS1000 Drivecore amp

Sign in to disble this ad
Just got one of these to replace the heavier amp in my bass rig. Testing it in the house and I marveled at how quiet it was when i powered it up, i could not even hear the fan.

Thats because the fan wasn't on. I ran the amp for a while, not pushing it and i'm not sure if the fan ever came on.

So, to all you XLS Drivecore amp owners here on Talkbass, is the fan supposed to come on when the amp is turned on or does it cycle on and off?

This exact same thing happend to my brand new poweramp. Its got 2 fans.Got it home the first day.Unwrap the plastic plug it up. I can see that its got 2 fans but when i switched it on to play only one worked. I thought at first its made to work when needed.I posted the question on TB & got no answers from anyone. So i went to jam the next day, plugged it up the same thing one fan is only working. The guys in the band said give it a good playing now & see if it comes on.It didnt after a full hour of cranking it nothing.Only the left side fan worked.
It was a faulty fan & i had warranty so they sent me a new one.
Believe me it should be on at all times !

The question has come up before. It cycles on and off. If you watch it long enough, you'll see it. It's very quiet.

thanks for the response. I got a great deal on this amp and its replacing my Behringer EP1500 which has been nothing but perfect for all the years I have owned it. but my back has been telling me to get a lighter amp, so this should effectively make my rack 30lbs lighter.

Also nice is that I can use my current speaker cables so no need to buy new ones. Sure hope this little guy is up to the challenge.

There are some features that the owner's manual does not address for some odd reason. Namely the Y input or Y mode - can't remember the name... It allows one input to be sent to two cabs, using equal power from each amp. It's a very nice feature.

ON my Behringer EP1500, they call that "parallel mode" using only one input but sending the signal to both sides of the amp. I think the majority of power amps have this feature.

But i digress, the XSL will be run in bridged bypass mode once it goes into the rack.
