Fast/clean/lightweight micro amp - Quite a few options...

Sign in to disble this ad
I currently have very 'tubey' sounding amps. One of them is a full size AD200b, and that is a great great tone.

The other is the Genz Streamliner 900. Again, great tone, and its definitely got a tube vibe to it.

The last is a little inbetween, and might be the amp I should use instead of buying another. The RH750.

Sometimes, I find myself missing the Markbass clean/relatively uncoloured tone. I could plug in and leave it flat (not that its a dealbreaker).

Will another Markbass amp bring me back into that tone Id like to add, OR, is the RH750 more than likely doing everything I need without needing another amp.

The options I have are:

Markbass LM3
Markbass F500
Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0
Shuttlemax 9.2

The Max is a little large for me...in addition I dont need another high wattage head.

Am I best just using the 750 and probably realising there is hardly any difference?

It's all up to YOUR ears, but I bet you're right.

I know this is kind of seems like a downgrade from your current anps but the Carvin BX500 is one of the most uncolored and powerful mini amps I've owned . I had an LMII before I got the Carvin and the Carvin was in no way a downgrade from the LMII , just a different sound . I wouldn't dismiss them because of the lower price .

I don't think Carvin is available in the UK.

Add the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 to the top of your list.

I did think about the TH500; love Aguilar gear!

Euphonic Audio Micro

The Euphonic Audio Micro is quite clean. Weighs 2.25 pounds. According to the specs on the back of my amp, it's 550 watts @ 4ohm and 350 watts @ 8ohm. I carry mine in an iPad pouch. Very nice, extremely effective. Here it is sitting atop an LDS 12/6 cab. I use it with a SIB Fatdrive for ultra clean tubey tone.

+ 2 on the EA micro 550 - very clean and effective EQ. I tried one and loved how simple the EQ is and gets a great sound without too much trouble. If I was in the market for a Micro this would be the one.

Thanks all, definitely helpful to see other views etc.

The RH750 is a very very cool amp. I love it. I dont 'think' its that voiced once you open up the tweetertone to allow a fairly modern sheen to the tone, but the simplicity of a LM3 is calling me...yet again!
