What's your favorite 1x15 standalone cab and why?
I found a nice 1x15 shootout here: http://bowlusblog.blogspot.com/2007/...-shootout.html
.. TB-ers opinions are much appreciated.
I'd be matching this up with an SVT-3Pro for small-ish type gigs, but would like the ability to crank the 3PRO as well.
I have and used a B115HP amp which is 220w. I like the sound, but I prefer modular (amp/cab) configuration better, and would like to use the 3PRO with this and get rid of the combo.
I've been considering the SVT-15E, but I can't seem to find one locally to try thing.....

I have been using this cabinet for years now. It's not as compact as a lot of the more recent 1x15 cabs are nowadays. It's almost as big as some 4x10s but only comes in around 65lbs which is very manageable especially since it has casters. I find it's size to be effective on stage by positioning your amp a little higher for adjustments. It has an adjustable tweeter as well. I really like the sound of this cabinet and use this as a stand alone at times. It has a very thick tone but can achieve modern tone via the tweeter adjustment or amp EQ. Sometimes I'll pair it with a 2x10 if more volume is needed. I had sworn off 1x15s at one time and was using nothing but 10s. After a while I was looking for something different and this cabinet changed my mind about 1x15s. So for me it worked. The downside is that Aguilar doesn't make this cabinet anymore. They do have a DB series 1x15 but my understanding is that these cabs are voiced differently than their GS series. You may find one of these used. |

How did you get that in the round perforated grill? I though those (before discontinuing) only came in the chrome rhomboid shaped pattern.
Thanks for the replies. The "Orange" cab seem to be getting good reviews. Do they come in black though? (edit: they do)

Does anyone know of any sound clips for the Orange cab (and or others as well)?
Here is a cool site with cab clips - unfortunately they don't have most of the ones mentioned here. http://www.basstasters.com/cabinets/

The S-15X (coaxial) cab is pretty amazing. I love mine to death.

Like a Bag End SD15 with much less weight, higher SPL, bigger low end, grindier top end. I don't have a YouTube clip up of this cab, but there is an audio clip on my iComposition homepage... link is in my profile.
