fEarful 15sub with a 4x10 SWR Goliath II

Sign in to disble this ad
First, a great BIG thanks for all the fEarful designs. Very cool. I love this kind of stuff and your efforts are appreciated!

OK, I have a 4x10 SWR Goliath II(crosover w/horn, rear port) pushed by a Carvin DCM2000. I want to add some more "bottom end" and a "fuller/rounder" tone (I understand these are highly subjective terms). After reading a ton on these forums, I believe that adding a fEarful 15sub would fit the bill, no? If I'm on the right track, should I build it with the low pass filter (Greenboy Cheap but Good) or leave it out? Thanks

Loaded with a 3015LF it would be a good combination. Get an electronic crossover so that you can drive the lows through one amp channel, the rest through the other. A crossover frequency in the vicinity of 100Hz should work well.

Thanks Bill. Any recommendations on an "affordable" rack-mount crossover and if I use an active crossover would I be able to eliminate the filters from the 15sub build?

Good one to ask in the current fEarful thread. That way you attract the attention of people who are doing this, who don't necessarily follow a lot of other threads.

You're right. I'll post the same question on the
Pt. 8: fEarful™ 12/6 & 15/6 enclosure designs - FREE! thread. Thanks Greenboy.

BBE DS24. Less than $200 on Ebay.

For splitting the signal, I jump rather than split. Just go from one place to the next.

A passive filter is just excess parts if you bi-amp. Crossovers abound at $100.
