Fearful headcase

Just some general questions about this. Does it have a built in crossover? In other words does it just allow the mid and upper frequencies to go through? Does the woofer still get all frequencies or just the lows? Is there any issues with lowering the total impedence since you are adding a cab?

For example if I have two 8 ohm speakers and I want to add the midrange how does it work? Should I run the output(s) on my amp (I have two speakon) to the crossover and then to the other cab(s). Or just run one output to the crossover then to all three cabs?

You design it how you want it.
it is my understanding that if using a passive x-over then it would make sense to have the full 3 way x-over built into the headcase, with low outs fro the "sub" cabinet.
I think though, that most headcases are in the hands of bi-ampers, ergo no x-over at all.
If you wanted to, I believe it would not be hard to place a low pass in a sub box and have a two way x-over in the headcase. .
However you want to slice it.
