fEarful midrange speaker

hey guys,
I am building myself a fearful 15/6/1 cab and need to buy the midrange speaker. The 18 sound is a bit pricey and and I think it is out of my budget. Does somebody knows what happens if I try building the cab with the eminence alpha-6?

If you're going to build a fEarful, I would advise you that it is pretty much designed around the drivers used. I'd be wary about using something else. Not sure if the midrange driver model is as crucial as the low frequency driver, but still...

the alpha6 doesn't have enough output to be matched with the 3015lf. For a 12/6 it's ok.

Also try posting in the fearful thread or on the greenboy forum.. more people interested in the fearful move hang on there

Yeah, you might like it. Although at higher volume it won't keep up with the 3015LF.

If you forego the crossover and bi-amp then you can more easily control the balance between the woofer and the mid. That might help in the meantime.

I too was going to go a cheaper route on the mid and I am so glad I didn't. That 18 Sound mid is killer and mids are where your tone lies.

This is the place to ask these questions though...

Based on the 2-3 times I've tried a single nEarful, the 18 Sound driver is a bad mutha and well worth the extra cash.

The e-bay seller (clair bros really) has there own auction site and you save a few bucks buying there. Somethin like audioauction.com
