Question guys....considering a fEARful....I have 3 amps, would like to cut it down to one or two, GB Streamliner 900, GB SM 9.2, and Aggie TH500.....thinking of 12/12/6 or 15/6/1.....any particular reason for one cab over the other, and any one head of those that works "better" with one of those cabs? I only ask because I have ZERO knowledge/experience with fEARful...and to be honest....it's kind of like Bigfoot or the Loch Ness monster,....some mythical thing I've never actually seen but heard A LOT about. And I don't mean that as a wise ass, I'm ready to give one a whirl, just doing my due dilligence. Thanks guys!!

I've never used those amps....but do they have headphone jacks? That would be a good way to know how they'd sound....well.....with studio quality headphones....with booooooooming lows.

If you've got the space in your car go for the 1212/6. It will be able to draw a 4 ohm load and will be easier to hear on tight stages since its taller. Also, as a general rule 2 driver cabs just have a bit "more" than a single driver cab... all things being equal.

That said, the 15/6 is an amazing cab and if you've got the wattage it will go plenty loud for the vast majority of bassists. IMO/IME.

I have a pair of 12/6 boxes which, when combined, are similar to a 1212/6 except for the mid driver(s). I'm driving them with a ShuttleMax 9.2 and couldn't be happier.

The semi-parametric EQ in Genz amps should be able to tame the upper-mid spike that a few people don't like about the mid driver used in the 15/x and dual 12boxes.

Cool!

I am so tempted to do a pair of 15/6/1 cabs. I have one and love it, but it is kept in Hawaii, and I am in Texas a lot for a while.

Has anyone tried two 15/6/1 cabs together? Taming the mids is an issue that does not scare me, LOL!

I use a 66 and love it... can't see why having the same dual woof/ dual mid combo in 2 boxes instead of one would be scary. But it might be awesome!

the standard 15/6 crossover has a pad switch on the mids. If you combine it with another, just switch the pads out..

+1 to Foz

I also use a '66, no worries at all for me with all the mids. Most articulate cab I have ever played.

I have a pair of mirrored baffle 15/6/1s and they are a beautiful thing. Astonishingly clear, loud and lightweight. The mids are certainly very present up and down the spectrum and I'm using a parametric EQ to dial them back somewhat in the range of about 2000K, with a bump at about 500Hz and a few other tweaks as needed. And lots of versatility in being able to stack vertically, horizontally or leave one at home and the other at the studio for rehearsal.
A pair of 15/6s will cover just about any gig I could imagine, arena stages included.

I was planing on building another set of cabs, but plans changed. I have a pair of 18 Sound mids, the 6NM410, that I bought last month from forum members. If anyone is planing on a build, here's a chance to save some bucks. Give me a holler, $100 each.

I'm a new convert. Just got this 12/6 last week, and played my first gig with it Friday night. Loved the sound - clean, clear, deep, tight. Plenty of volume, and it's only 36 pounds.

I'm a believer.

Anyone in the DC area, PM me if you want to check it out.

Welcome to the 12/6 club!
Who built it? What wood?
The lighter of my two 12/6s, built with Arauco, weighs a pound or two more than that. And that's with round grills, not the full face metal one like on yours.
That looks like the 18Sound mid...do you plan to add a second cab?

Thanks, it was built by Dave Homer of Gigmaster sound works. He did a really nice job. It's Okoume plywood, the grill is aluminum, and the side handles are routed into the wood, that's where the weight savings come from. It is the 18sound mid; I wanted to have the option to add a 12 sub later if I need more volume. Got the switchable pad too.
